I’m not sure if you know, but about 2 months ago, Johnny and I moved into our own flat in London. While we are renting and therefore can’t make many dramatic homeware decisions, we have our own furniture and cookware. I was so excited getting all this stuff, and I want to show you a few of my favourites that I feel really make our house feel like a home.
The first item which I really love is this gold pineapple from Primark! It was £5 and it’s technically a candle, but I never light it and just use it to prop up Johnny’s XBOX games in our TV cabinet. It adds a bit of glamour to the ugly neon green cases that all his violent and scary-looking games are kept in! Johnny always tells me that TV cabinets aren’t supposed to look ‘cute’, they’re supposed to be functional. However, I think everything can look cute, so why not add gold pineapples and fairy lights to everything. It also doubles as the cutest blog photo prop!
The next item I love also lives in our TV cabinet and it’s this fake plant and tin pot from IKEA! I love this and I think that it’s so nice to have a bit of greenery in your home. I wanted to liven up the cabinet and thought having a live plant that would need watering next to many, many wires probably wouldn’t be very sensible, so we bought this fake one instead. I believe the plant was £2 and the pot was another £2, making this a real bargain. Again, it also looks adorable in blog photos!
Johnny laughs all the time about my inner Monica Geller and one of the ways I unleash her is through coasters. I will not allow a drink to be put down anywhere without a coaster! These particular coasters are from TK Maxx and they were £11 for a set of 4, which is a little pricy but they are so cute that I couldn’t resist. They’re not on TK Maxx’s website, but the brand is called Grace’s Teaware so if you really like them, you might be able to find them on eBay or something.
If you follow me on Twitter, then there’s no doubt that you know about my love for wine. I am a big wine drinker and so choosing wine glasses was really important to me. I chose these from TK Maxx because I adored the shape and Johnny assured me they were really good quality. And, they were only £12 for 4, making each glass £3 each! I use them nearly every day and I love sipping from them while I watch my evening episode of Come Dine With Me!
I love these letters that hang above our bed from TYPO (and the & is from Tiger). The C stands for Chloe and the J stands for Johnny (even though they have been mistaken to stand for Jeremy Corbyn before!) and they just sit above our bed, adding a really nice personal touch and, ok, it’s a little bit cringy but it’s not like they’re in the living room!!
Finally, this is our cushion set up. I love the colour combinations so much, and they really work with our charcoal sofa. The navy blue cushions are from Primark and they were £5 for 2, which was an amazing deal! The mustard patterned cushions are from H&M home and they were £3 for the covers but I bought the inserts separately on Amazon. Finally, I can’t remember the price of the really fluffy grey cushion but it’s from IKEA and it’s honestly the softest pillow I’ve ever owned. I love to just rub my face on it – is that weird? – because it’s so silky, like a little cat.
These are just a few of my favourite pieces of homeware that we got for our new flat, and they’re all so affordable too! I’d love to do a more kitchen oriented version of this post, so let me know if you’d enjoy that!
