Autumn is by far my favourite season for make up. I know that you can wear a purple lip and golden eyes everyday of the year but there’s something about it which just feels exceptionally autumnal to me. These are my top picks for the colder weather…
I picked up this foundation in late August and have been really enjoying it throughout September and October. It’s the lightest coverage that The Ordinary do and, for me, it’s perfect. It’s demi-matte finish means that I don’t have to set it on chilly days (unless I’m going on the tube) and it creates a beautiful, even finish to my skin while still feeling very natural. I really like this serum foundation for autumn as it doesn’t dry my skin out on quite chilly days and, despite being called a ‘light coverage’, I would say it’s definitely medium. It’s also exceptionally buildable and very affordable.
I recently re-found this concealer after having lost it in the depths of my make-up drawer for months and I’d forgotten how much I completely adore it. It blends exceptionally well and is so soft, as its name would suggest. I have the shade Vanilla which is perfect to create a natural under eye highlight and it covers up absolutely everything you don’t want to be seen – which makes it a perfect companion to a lighter coverage foundation. This concealer seems to just melt effortlessly into my skin and, even though I claim that the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer is my favourite, I think this may have surpassed it. It’s pricy at £24 a pop but so pretty.
I created this MAC Palette from 2015-2016 and it has some of my all-time favourite autumnal shades in it. Amber Lights is an almost orange gold shade which looks beautiful packed on the lid with Swiss Chocolate (a matte red-brown) and Antiqued (a shimmer red-brown) through the crease, but all of these shades look amazing on their own or with a little flick of winged eyeliner and plenty of my Lash Sensational mascara. If you’d like to see swatches of these shadows, then I have a post all about my MAC Pro Palettes with a more in-depth look at them! While these shadows are expensive, you can find many dupes (LaLa by ColourPop is a great dupe for Amber Lights, for example) in the drugstore to create amazing autumn looks!
I bought this liquid lipstick in March and have been waiting for autumn to wear it. It is the most gorgeous almost-black purple and now that autumn is here and the leaves are turning gold, my lips are turning purple. I really love this completely vampy shade paired with golden eyes and a harsh contour. It makes me feel like a sassy, autumnal princess and if that’s not goals, then what is? I love the formula of the Ultra Matte Lips from Colourpop – they’re not too trying and the colour stays all day, through sandwiches, coffees and kisses! The staying power makes them perfect for partying (especially Halloween parties!) and nights out and on me, they don’t crumble at all. If you’re in the market for daring but affordable shades, I really recommend these ones from ColourPop.
These are my autumn picks now that the nights are drawing in and my feet are constantly cold – even through fluffy socks. What products are you loving this autumn? Any of the ones I mentioned?
