I will then be lightly bronzing my face with The Body Shop Honey Bronzer in the shade ‘2’. I hardly ever mention this bronzer on my blog but it’s been a staple in my make-up bag for many years and I constantly repurchase it. I use it every day without fail and it’s my favourite bronzer of all time. I’ll then be adding some colour to my cheeks by using the Hourglass Ambient Lighting 3 palette. I’ll be mixing the darker, plum shade and the corally pink shade to create the perfect, natural flush. I’ll then be using it to add a subtle highlight to my cheekbones as well; my favourite highlighter in that palette is the one in the top row. I’m a fan of a good glow but the Ambient Lightning powders give such a natural, subtle highlight that makes you look lit-from-within.
Some people spend all of Christmas Day in their pyjamas but I personally like to dress up on Christmas Day and choosing my face of make up for Christmas Day is always one of the most fun parts of the lead-up to the big day for me…
For my base this Christmas Day, I am going to start with Wonderglow from Charlotte Tilbury. It provides the most beautiful, golden glow which is a perfect base for my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation , which is my all-time favourite foundation. It provides the most natural looking base with full-to-medium coverage with a demi-matte finish. I’m choosing this as my Christmas Day base as it’s my favourite and my most luxurious foundation – and who doesn’t want a bit of luxury around Christmas time? I’m also choosing my Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer for the same reason; it’s my favourite concealer of all time due to its softness, blend-ability and match to my skin tone (I have the shade Vanilla). I will then be setting my base with my Nude by Nature Translucent Setting Powder as it’s so light, finely milled and creates a gorgeous, blurring finish.
For eyebrows, I will be using the Glossier Boy Brow which just provides a really nice, natural looking brow. It clings to all your little eyebrow hairs and makes them look incredibly well groomed. I then will be moving on to my eyes. For these, I will be starting with my Naked Basics Palette as I will be travelling over Christmas and this is a palette I always travel with. I’m not planning on going too heavy on the eye-shadow but when I think festive, I think gold and this Water Eyeshadow form Kiko in the shade ‘208 Pale Gold’. You can use these shadows wet or dry and I personally like to use it with a little bit of Fix+ to make it even more intense than it would be dry. I’m going to use this all over my lid and then line my eyes using the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner.
For lashes, I am going to be using a light coat of my Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara which I completely love and featured in November’s beauty favourites because I am so obsessed with it. However, this mascara will not be the main event of my lashes this Christmas. I will also be using the House of Lashes Demure Lite lashes which, for me, are pretty extreme lashes. However, they are so pretty and provide such beautiful, fluttery lashes that really open up your eyes and add some drama to your look. I only wear lashes on special occasions and since Christmas is the most special occasion of them all, I will 100% be rocking these on the 25th.
I always wear a red lipstick on Christmas Day. Last year I wore ‘MAC Kinky’ but this year it’s the Sephora Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick in the shade ’01’ which is a true red. These lipsticks are incredibly long lasting which is definitely something you want when you’re tucking into your turkey or chugging the champers! I wore this lipstick all day when we went to DisneyLand Paris back in September and it stayed pretty much all day, only slightly budging when we went out to dinner after and I destroyed 2 mojitos and a “Mac Attack Burger” (which was a burger with Mac’N’Cheese on top… yep, we really took in the French cuisine!) so in my opinion, this red lipstick is perfect for Christmas Day.
And so, that completes the make up look I will be doing this Christmas Day. Do you like to wear make up on Christmas or are you more of a “all day in my pyjamas, don’t make an effort” kind of celebrator?
