Achieving a Glowy Complexion

glowy make up

In Winter, it can be so hard to achieve a really glowy complexion. Here is my everyday base routine to ensure you glow like the sun, even when it’s snowing outside…

Firstly, I make sure my face is fully moisturised. I use a range of different moisturisers but my favourite has to be the Glossier Priming Moisturiser.  I then use a little bit of the NYX Pore Filler Primer on my nose and under my eyes and then start with my base. I’ve been loving the It Cosmetics CC Cream for a base at the moment. It’s quite light coverage but because I’ve been having quite a good skin time at the moment, it’s really been working for me. I get the coverage from my concealer, which is the Bye Bye UnderEye concealer from It Cosmetics. This concealer is amazing! I has the highest coverage of any concealer that I’ve ever tried and really does what it says on the tin: it gets rid of your under-eye circles effortlessly. It’s perfect to pair with a foundation or even on it’s own for a really flawless look to your complexion. I can easily say that I am obsessed!

I then powder my face and I’ve been adoring the Too Faced Born This Way powder for this. It’s a really beautiful, finely milled loose powder that doesn’t make your make up look too cakey or too powdery. It leaves your skin feeling mattifyed but also with a really lovely glow – almost like a filter for your face. I’ve also been loving the Too Faced Love Flush blush in ‘How Deep Is Your Love’ which looks a bit scary in the pan but is very blend-able and leaves your cheeks with a beautiful, rosy glow that just makes you look incredibly healthy and it gives you such a natural glow. The blush is extremely pigmented so a little goes a long way and I just find it exceptionally beautiful as a flush of natural-looking colour to the cheeks. I also forgot to photograph my bronzer (oops lol) but I have been loving the Charlotte Tilbury Bronze & Glow in light to just bronze my face up and give it a little extra colour. I usually don’t contour but if I did I’d use the Kat Von D Shade & Light Contour Palette.

For highlighter, I’ve really been loving pink-toned highlights and the Laura Geller Illuminating Stick in ‘Etheral’ is perfect for this as it’s a natural but noticeable glow. It’s really easy for everyday as well, as it’s just a cream highlighter in a rounded stick, meaning it fits the top of your cheekbone perfectly and doesn’t require much effort other than a speedy swipe. If there’s days where I’m feeling like I need a bit of an extra oomph to my highlight, I’ll add a little swipe from the Kristen Leanne x Urban Decay Highlighter Palette on top of my cheekbones as well. I am quite pale so find that the middle shade works the best for me but I love the outer bronzier shades for eye shadow. Finally, I’ll spritz my face with the Marc Jacobs ReCover Coconut Setting Spray. This mist is so fine and so hydrating that it keeps your make up looking fresh and dewy but doesn’t make you at all oily. It’s a real favourite of mine.

Those are my tips for healthy-looking, glowy skin and what I use to keep myself looking my best. What products do you love when it comes to your base?
