Some of you may know that last year, Johnny and I didn’t get to go on a relaxing summer holiday. Our priority going into the new year was to book a holiday where we could have a week relaxing by the pool, sipping all-inclusive cocktails and eating our bodyweight in buffet food. Sounds like the dream right? We were stuck on destination for a really long time. We’d done Greece in 2015, The Canaries in 2016 and just wanted to do something a bit different. So, we chose Majorca in the end – an island neither of us have visited before – and the resort town of Alcudia. Here are the reasons why we chose to head to sunny Majorca this summer – and why I’m excited to visit.
Out of all the holiday destinations we found, Majorca flights and hotel seemed to be the cheapest. We decided we wanted an adult-only hotel – we don’t have kids yet and we’re going to make the most of that while we can – which did limit our choices a bit and all the adult-only hotels in other countries were either extremely far away from a town or village or spa resorts that were insanely expensive and completely out of our price range. However, when looking at Majorca we found an amazing little hotel with a private pool area, four star rating and adult-only for a really reasonable price. The flights were also pretty cheap too, meaning that we were able to get our dream summer holiday for such a reasonable price.
We google image searched the resort before we booked it and oh, my, god. Alcudia is such a gorgeous looking resort town. It has miles of white sandy beaches, crystal blue seas and even has a rickety wooden pier stretching into the sea which is going to be perfect to get those pics for the ‘gram. If you need any convincing on why you should book a holiday to Majorca, just google pictures of the beaches and you will be wowed. Who knew that kind of tropical-looking paradise could be found so close to home? I thought that was more of a Seychelles kinda thing, you know? Of course we haven’t experienced it ourselves yet but we head off in 6 weeks, so make sure you’re following me on Instagram.
WORD OF MOUTH
Both of my parents have visited Majorca and raved about how gorgeous it was. My dad’s girlfriend has even visited the exact resort we are staying at and said how wonderful it was – even though she went sixteen years ago so it might have changed a bit since then. Lots of people I follow on Instagram and Twitter have also been recently and their pictures sold us completely – don’t listen to those naysayers who think influencer marketing doesn’t work because I’m here to tell you it 100% does and I was sold on this holiday by Instagram. My friend Chloe has done a few blog posts on Majorca, and her reviews of it had me completely enamoured with the idea of a holiday to that island. So, we booked one!
Majorca has many landmarks but they are not overly well known. Johnny and I are kind of history nerds and we love not only relaxing and drinking many a pina colada while we’re on holiday, but also to have a nosey at some of the place we are visiting’s history. We will be excited to suss out the Palma Cathedral when we go, as the architecture looks beautiful. It opened in 1229, meaning it’s nearly a thousand years old. It’s famous for it’s gothic architecture, which is one of my favourite styles (told you I was a nerd, right?) and is one of the most famous landmarks in Majorca! Amazing!
