Life Update: Where I’ve Been & What’s New?

chloe alice lily

Well, hello there.

It’s been a while since I’ve sat at my laptop and written out a post that I’ve not been paid to do and honestly, it feels amazing. Over the last couple of months, I’ve properly abandoned my blog. Between exciting trips abroad, stressing about money and working 35 hours a week serving people coffee, I’ve barely had time to breathe, let alone blog. But last year I managed to keep up my blog as well as work full time. Something was different this year. Want to know what it was?

I hate my blog.

Okay, maybe that’s a little strong. I thoroughly dislike it. The content I’m putting out makes me sad and I don’t get a buzz from doing it. I don’t like it. I’m not passionate about it. Coming onto my site makes me feel sad. And honestly, I can tell you guys feel the same way. In the last 3 months, I’ve lost more followers than I ever have in my entire blogging career – yes, even more than I lost when everyone decided I was entitled and spoilt that one awful week in March and I think it’s because the content I’m making is awful, forced and, honestly, boring.

So, I’m mixing things up around here. I started to think: “what is making me tick at the moment?” That is what I should be writing about. And after brainstorming, I found what it was that I’m passionate about and what I want to share more of.

I’m changing my niche. I am no longer beauty and lifestyle blogger ‘Chloe Alice Lily’. I am now going to be home, planning and organisation blogger, who also blogs about Disney (but mainly the planning side of a trip). So, what is this going to entail?

Well, reader. I will tell you.

From me, you will now be getting 2 posts a week. These will be going live on Tuesdays and Saturdays. On Tuesdays, you will get a post written by me with tips on how I stay organised, how I meal plan, how I stay on top of uni/work/my blog etc. My main passion in my life is my home so I’m going to share seasonal changes, seasonal recipes etc.

On Saturdays, you will be getting a post written by you. Ooh, mysterious – no? I want you to send me your best organisation tips: how do you plan your blog content? What cleaning tips do you freaking live by? What one product in your life makes things so much freaking easier? Every week I’m going to be rounding these up in a post series that is yet to be named. (If you have any tips, do email me please!)

A lot of you say you come to my site for unfiltered honesty, and that’s what you’re going to get. I refuse to pretend to be something I’m not anymore. That’s not what I’m about. Thinking I had to stay in my niche forever has taken the blogging fire out of my belly and so I’m breaking free.

Of course, my 2 posts a week might be broken. I’m assuming that some weeks there will be more as I might have some sponsored content to put out, or something like that. And I will sometimes blog about beauty still, but it’s probably going to be more of “busy girl’s five minute face” or something like that. I’m sorry if you love my blog for my reviews and posts about make up, but it’s really just not for me anymore. To stay in that niche would be allowing my blog to die and I just can’t do that to myself.

Thanks to everyone who’s stuck around while I’ve been in this rut and who will continue to stick around now I’m out of it. I like you and you’re great.

The last few months just seem to be bad for traffic/followers. Maybe audiences are feeling the same as many of us bloggers.
Do what makes you happy, or it shows and the people that want those reviews won’t want to read them anyway. There will always be new interested audience for the few you do lose

Bloody love this post and how honest it is. Also planning and Disney are my 2 favourite things so I’m 100% excited for your new content 👍

I’ve been feeling very similar recently – I’ve been putting out content to try and please others but I’ve not been enjoying it. I’m now focusing my blog on card making, crafts and my bullet journal because that’s what I love! 😃

I’ve found so many people say that. Once you turn your hobby into a job it is no longer enjoyable. I’ve lots of household tips on my blog if you want a look.

Related to this a lot Chlo, I decided before the summer I wasn’t going to write about beauty anymore, I just didn’t enjoy writing about it as much as lifestyle and interiors. Looking forward to reading some new content on here xx

You should write about what you are passionate about & if you lose followers then they aren’t for you anyway! I just found you on Twitter and look forward to following your upcoming posts. Best of luck with what’s to come and I look forward to reading!
